Why you should know this
Security instructions fail when key words blur together. A small vocabulary makes later wallet lessons safer.
The ten terms
Wallet: software or hardware that helps manage keys and transactions.
2. Address: a public destination identifier for a compatible network.
3. Private key: secret data used to authorize transfers.
4. Recovery phrase: words that can restore control in many wallet designs.
5. Custody: an arrangement for holding and controlling assets.
6. Self-custody: the user controls the keys.
7. Custodian: a provider controlling assets or keys for customers.
8. Account: a service relationship identified by login and provider records.
9. Two-factor authentication: a second account-access check.
10. Allowlist: a list of preapproved withdrawal addresses.
Words describe different layers

A provider account is not the same as a blockchain address. A login password protects account access; a private key authorizes network transfers. A recovery phrase may control many addresses.
Keeping these layers separate prevents dangerous instructions such as typing a recovery phrase into an ordinary login form.
A familiar example

Angela receives a message asking for her “wallet password.” She pauses because the sender might mean an account password, PIN, private key or recovery phrase. A legitimate support process should never need her secret recovery material.
One limit to remember
Definitions vary by product. Read the wallet or provider’s official documentation before acting, and never share private keys or recovery phrases.
How this connects to market mastery

Match each item to its layer: login password, private key, blockchain address, provider account.
If you can answer that clearly, this lesson is complete.
