Which Fees Appear in a Crypto Remittance?

Why you should know this

A transfer advertised as “zero fee” can still be expensive if the exchange rate is weak. A visible network charge can look high while a better conversion rate produces more PHP. The only fair comparison begins with the same source amount and ends with the same recipient outcome.

World Bank Remittance Prices Worldwide treats the transfer fee and exchange-rate margin as core parts of total remittance cost and notes that recipient fees can also matter. Crypto routes add token conversion, network and off-ramp layers.

Seven cost buckets

  1. Funding fee: bank, card, e-wallet or provider Top Up cost.
  2. First conversion: source currency to crypto or stablecoin, including spread.
  3. Provider transfer or withdrawal fee: charged by the sending service.
  4. Network fee: paid to process the blockchain transaction.
  5. Receiving fee: deposit, recovery, crediting or platform fee where applicable.
  6. Second conversion: crypto or stablecoin to PHP, including spread and slippage.
  7. PHP delivery fee: bank, e-wallet or cash-out charge.

Also record taxes or lawful charges where applicable, but do not invent them. Jurisdiction-specific tax treatment requires qualified review.

Fee visibility checklist

Ask the provider or interface:

  • Is the fee added or deducted?
  • Does the sending amount or receiving amount control?
  • Is the network fee fixed or estimated?
  • Can the provider change it before execution?
  • Is the spread visible in the quote?
  • Is the recipient charged?
  • What happens to fees if the transaction is rejected or returned?
  • What minimum or rounding can strand a small balance?
  • Which rate is locked, and for how long?

Do not accept “free” as a complete answer.

Practice check — no money needed

Use one fictional source amount and calculate the final PHP after every stated fee, spread or conversion. Do not compare routes until both end at the same recipient outcome.

The goal is not to memorize a slogan. If you can explain the route or decision, name the main limitation, and identify what evidence you would need before using real money, the lesson has done its job.

How this connects to market mastery

Execution analysis uses the same method: separate commission, spread, slippage, financing and settlement. A trader who learns total remittance cost can later evaluate all-in trading cost instead of celebrating a low commission.

*Cryptocurrency and virtual asset transactions are highly volatile and irreversible, may result in significant losses, and do not guarantee returns; customers should trade only after understanding the risks involved.
